Yorkshire....Beakhead capital of Britain!!

Not too long a post today...

...I'm on mobile WiFi and it's really NOT good!

But I simply had to share my little clutch of bagged Beakheads (well, some of them).

First ADEL:-

I've been wanting to visit this one for ages....and I wasn't disappointed when I got there...

...except for the fact that it was snowing and I couldn't stand outside to photograph all of the magnificaent corbels!! :-(

HEALAUGH

This was a return visit...simply because we were just down the road trying to photograph WigHill Church beakheads...

...but it was locked and the lady with the keys wasn't answering her door! :-(

i loved this one when I first visited and took loads of piccies again today. The Beakheads are so well preserved...it's difficult to get your had around the fact that they were carved in the 12th century.

STILLINGFLEET

Well! What can I say about this doorway. Utterly breathtaking! Superb carving and good preservation too. A truly lovely little spot in the Vale of York.

That's my bit for today folks...

I'll be back properly soon...

Beading......and sketch-booking

I want to get a number of pieces finished before our little break-away...

...so my desk is  "Bead Central" again for the next few days!

I printed loads of pieces with Colouricious blocks quite some time ago now...

...that's the easy bit!

The stitching takes forever!!

This is the final "big" one though...

Preparations have been underway for my "holiday goody bag" too...

...and I've re-stuffed my new sketchbook ready to accommodate  loads and loads of drawing and writing while I'm away. (Well....that's the plan anyway!)

I've packed in extra pages so it's looking quite substantial ...

The bits of card that got cut off to make the extra book pages...

...have been made into tiny books that snuggle into the little pockets that I glued inside front and back covers.

Then I cut a slot in one of the signature covers to slide in a small decorated notebook - small enough to slip into my little handbag if I don't want to carry around the bigger sketchbook.

I loooooove those Medieval Tile print blocks!!

The Schmincke paintbox and other glorious crafty bits and bobs are packed...

...ready to go into Rosa.

All is set for a good trip...

...as long as I can manage to stay upright!! :-o

Beginning to fix the Hexies...

After tacking ga-zillions of hexies...

...in those lovely Japanese indogo fabrics...

...now to the job of using them.

Just the beginnings of an idea forming here...

...we'll see how it pans out...

How about that then!!?

A little while ago I showed a piccy of my rather boring curtain pole...

Well...

...after a little bit of thought...

...a couple of bamboo canes...

...a few glue sticks...

...four artificial ivy vines...

...and some wire...

I've now got THIS :-)

I am delighted with the results!

700th Blog Post!!! Has it REALLY been that long!?

Well!! Who would have thought it...

...way back there in September 2008...

...that I'd STILL be blogging now...

...and am posting my 700th offering!! :-)

It's been quite a journey...

...and I've met so many lovely people along the way.

Thank you all for being around...

...it's been an absolute pleasure having you in my creative life!

X     (x 700)

Back to business.....

This is the second sample that I'm working on at the minute...

...a lovely big "flower"...

...stenciled and stitched...

...and some "grasses" penciled in ready to go to the machine later.

Plodding on...

...plodding on...

:-)

...a bit further on...

I was at the machine until nearly 9 pm yesterday...

...and went to bed with a pain in the neck!

STUPID!!

But...

...the crane was finished so that I could do the Sashiko design this morning.

I used a "net" pattern for this piece.

I thought it was looking a bit "samey"...

...so got out some red thread.

A little bit of red never hurt anything did it!!?? :-)

It's not finished yet...

...a litle bitty more with the red...

...then the hexagons...

This Empress Mills Klona Cotton is just wonderful for this stitching!

Happy Tuesday.

Working on another Japanese workshop sample

I stenciled a couple of indigo pieces last weekend...

...and, now that they are ironed and ready...

...I've begun the stitching.

A very small triple-backstitch on the machine...

...around every outline.

It takes quite a while...

...but I love the results!

Hopefully I'll finish this crane this evening...

...then the Sashiko bit can commence tomorrow. :-)
